Gusto has a clean interface, and using it takes almost no training at all. Features are intuitive, and employees are happy because it's simple to onboard and get them set up.
Gusto's contractor-only plan used to be competitively priced, but now, the monthly flat rate in addition to the per-contractor rate seems a little too high.
Small businesses don't really have a way to set up a direct deposit system unless they're on some type of payroll platform. Nobody likes paying contractors in cash. Gusto makes it easy.

They were so easy helping us get everything set up. My business grew to about 35 full-time employees in 6 months. They helped get licensed in multiple states and got the best offer for health insurance for all of my employees. Our previous Payroll company (the biggest one) did not do anything besides pitch sales calls. We so happy we moved to Gusto.

It's delightful..it adds unexpected fun to something that's usually mundane and boring. The emails make it extra exciting to get paid. Also, overall it's just very easy to use. I love knowing that all my important documents are in one place and I can easily access them at any time.
Sometimes when I get a notification to sign a welcome card, I can't see the last name of the team member who joined so I can't tie them to the new person that joined.

Our organization operates with a large number of contractors in the US. It's much easier for us to manage contractor payments with Gusto. From contractor onboarding to quick payouts, we're very happy using Gusto to manage this process.
I pay to my myself, my employees and my contractors. Everything goes very smoothly. Price is affordable. Easy to run payroll by yourself even if you do it first time.
I did not understand in the beginning when money for payroll will be deducted from my account. They extended payment date to 4-5 business days. It would be great to come back to 3 days.

I have zero experience in HR or payroll, but Gusto has made managing that part of my business intuitive and simple. It is a very guided experience that makes me feel confident that I'm dotting all my i's and crossing all my t's. They have a ton of resources to help you when you get stuck on a payroll or HR issue.
We are on a tier that enables us to create an employee Handbook. It's a third-party tool that comes with Gusto (I think it's called Mineral), and I didn't like the user interface for that. It was a bit convoluted and complicated. I like UIs to be incredibly intuitive and light. This was a bit of a bear to get through and looked very outdated.
We don't have a dedicated HR or payroll department. Gusto literally acts as those departments for our business. While we do have our accountants help us with mapping payroll to Xero and making other big decisions, anything we need related to HR compliance and payroll is handled by our team in Gusto. If we need help with questions we aren't qualified to figure out, Gusto support has always been extremely helpful.
Whenever I call for help, they come through with what I need.
I do not have any downsides to using Gusto. I am thankful for Gusto. Everyone I talk to gives me the help I need.

Gusto has completely changed how this office operates. Previous to my hire, payroll was done manually. Since switching over it has run like clockwork, and our organization no longer worries about tax reporting indescrepencies.
This is minor, but the item I least like is having to search for the IIF files for Quickbooks each payroll period. Would love if those could be emailed out with the "you're getting paid today" notifications.
As stated in previous message, prior to my coming on board, payroll was done entirely by hand. That proved costly when mistakes were made with IRS reporting. Gusto has solved that issue, and more.

Not having to manually process checks and tax payments
Set up was fairly easy. Federal and state reports and payments are generated automatically. The only thing I really have to do is spend a couple of minutes running payroll every month. Easy Peasy.
We had a couple of security issues come up but customer service was quick to fix.
Gusto has stream-lined the whole payroll/benefits process and saved us a ton of time, allowing us to get more done. That's important when it's just the 2 of us here.
I love that while I don't have an HR background, gusto is intuitive enough for me to use to set our team up well internally for success. From staying compliant to setting up Simple IRAs to paying our seasonal summer staff, it's been pretty straight-foward! They help prepare and distribute W2s, which we love.
We are smaller, so sometimes we'd like to automate something on a smaller scale for paying seasonal staff, which can be tricky. Gusto's support is so helpful and responsive that even when we've encountered issues, it's been solved quickly and seamlessly.
Our pay schedule for our seasonal staff, benefits for a smaller team, etc. It's just given us a functional and affordable, user-friendly platform for all of our HR needs.
Payroll is easy to run and simple to use. Filings are also wonderful to have.

Easy payroll to run with an easy-to-understand interface unlike Quickbooks which has 9 platforms and 14 support numbers/emails which don't get back to you.
I like that I get my paycheck early. I also like the ability to have different locations to save money for different things and events. I like how easy it is to transfer money as well.
Sometimes the pending payments take a while. Also sending money from bank account takes a lot of time. Also the app doens't update your funds automatically. But other than that it is fine.
It is making it easy make saving goals. Can make plans for things that I am saving for. I am more succesful at saving money now. The app allows me to make goals for myself.
I have used Gusto as an employer and an employee and it is fantastic! The UX, customer service and suite of offerings have been consistently great, and have steadily broadened and improved over the last 8 years.
I don't really dislike anything about Gusto. The only downside I can think of is that it doesn't connect with quite as many third party software tools as Quickbooks, but it's so much more affordable and user friendly that I'd choose Gusto every time
It provides effortless payroll and benefit visibility for employees. The payroll loans and additional offerings are a great benefit as well. We love how easy it is to access everything you need in one place.
I love that Gusto reminds me when to run payroll. I love that the paid holidays are automatically accounted in. I love that my payroll taxes are paid with each payroll I run.
I have not found a downside of Gusto yet, and I have been using it for seven months!
