Service overall works great. But would like that custom sorting didn't need to duplicate the index and count towards the plan limit.
Still some clients don't like to commit US$ 35 for a search service. For a client that pays ~US$ 30 for a hosting, it is understandable they don't want to double the hosting cost because of the search.
Advanced search on 7000+ posters, including search by color: https://www.typographicposters.com/?r=255&g=0&b=0
Good technical supports and customer relationship.
Missing ML functionalities and plug-in. I am expect ranking rather than sorting.
The user facing search and browse functions for shopping our company products.
Easy integration as well as extensive documentation around integrating with Algolia in the code. UX for business users to update/manage search as well was a huge boon.
The react library left a lot to be wanted. Recent improvements by algolia have helped improve the integration with our frontend. Recent UX/UI changes have made it harder to navigate around the site.
Algolia is solving the problem of maintaining and paying for an internal instance of elastic search while also providing cutting edge extensions to the search they provide.
Incorporating algolia into my netlify site, while not as straightforward as it can be, was not too difficult. The developers are responsive on github issues. Algolia improved search functionality on my site: instant search, has option to take users to relevant section.
The algolia logo they insert on the drop down result menu
Algolia improved search functionality on my site: instant search, has option to take users to relevant section, everything wrapped up in one plug and play package.
The ease of use of the service. The seamless integration using Docusaurus V2.
The not so easy integration with Github actions to run docker containers of Algolia Docsearch scraper.
Having a docsearch on my website so that I can easily look for sections/paragraphs.
Admin tool is well equipped and highly functional. It's fairly easy to use and understand quickly. It is easy to debug inside the admin tool.
Some API documentation and react instant search documentation is a bit lacking. Particularly with connectors for react instant search, you have to read the github repo code to understand how to really implement it. Pricing has increased a lot since we first used it. We are lucky to be on a legacy plan but if we ever need to update it, as a startup company, we are unlikely to be able to afford the same level of features.
It is a fast search tool for catalogue of products. Great for customizing your own catalogue page but at the same time utilizing their search capabilities with filters.
I like how fast it is. It makes search functionality really easy to implement from the UI standpoint.
It's still somewhat a black box for me. I don't fully understand how data is loaded to Algolia and what functionality Algolia provides that could enhance my application.
Algolia helps me quickly search for products. I use the facets feature extensively and like how fats it is.
The core search functionality is great, reliable and fast. Their additional value add functions are good, but most are not worth the additional costs. Admin and integration is difficult (M2) and does require technical dev/sys admin.
Their cost structure and quoting are smoke and mirrors and increasing rapidly. They are making it difficult to understand, predict, manage and rolling out increasingly hostile overages. The end goal appears to allow themselves the first glance view of being competitively priced to get you contracted in, then hit you with overage charges. They know that switching between suppliers is costly - thus most customers wont.
Great for controlling complex searches for fashion, allowing us to control results for things like newness, stock levels, discounts etc. We also use their preview search to great effect allowing people to adjust their searches on the fly using the visual feed back of the garments. We also inject promotional content into search eg: Search Socks and the "Socks Multibuy" banner comes up in results.
Simple and transparent pricing (and free hacker plan) Easy indexing (whether it be from their dashboard or via their API) Transparent and easy tuning Typo tolerance Multiple language support Geo-search capabilities Intuitive dashboard & analytics
The price is slightly high, however for the service it provides, it isnt a bad option!
Used for searching and completing work, lots of benefits!
The search function is quick, not the fastest, but quick enough. The reporting is ok, but tough to drill down to specifics like other search vendors.
The reporting needs help. Requires support to dig in deeper. Support is difficult and slow to make contact. Submitted support ticket and didn't receive response for 3 business days. Company started double billing us for 5 months and when asked to stop double billing and credit our account, they did not respond after several attempts. Had to get credit card company involved.
Content search that isn't avaiable with OOTB MAGE.
The product itself is excellent- when it works.
There is no customer support, so when things go wrong you wait days for a response. Also their billing platform is buggy af, and has no notifications. So your service can be cutoff without warning, even when it's their fault for lack of adequate error detection systems. It would be fine if there was a support team to swiftly respond and resolve issues, but there isn't, so lack of infrastructure and lack of support is a double whammy.
Search and Recommendation for users, obviously. Improve product discovery, shorten time to checkout. (Typing more text here to it reach the character threshold.)
Very little. The platform does have a lot of functionalities but you need to be an expert to us and have a dev background or find an implementation partner
Been screwing around with trying to implement this for several months. Supposed to be a less complicated and non-developer friendly alternative to elastic search. It's far from it. Our search is now riddled with bugs and our collection pages have clusters of similar products on them with no rhyme or reason. Waste of time.
E-commerce search, similar product recommendations, collection pages and filters
Algolia search is easy to implement and manage provided that you don't try to do something complex and do not need to involve customer service. The search results, on a default setting, are very well presented and indexed efficiently without cumbersome setup time.
Inexistent customer support. I got a good amount of seemingly automated informative and follow-up emails on signup which should imply there is great care and interest in their customers. My experience however proved that, once I needed help and engaged the customer service, I got completely ignored. My reminders and requests for follow-up and feedback got ignored as well.
Algolia was the only search plugin I could easily integrate into Docusaurus with a good amount of features out of the box. The other solutions I have tried either didn't work or were more complex to maintain and setup, and time is scarce.
