For our business the best feature with Vinyl was the ability for it to talk to different systems and platforms no matter how old or new and pull together data and information into very practical reports and analysis for the management team to use. In addition we've been able to use Vinyl to simply and automate processes internally that make us more efficient and ultimately save money.
There is nothing we've encountered about Vinyl that we dislike.
We are solving several problems with Vinyl. One of those is reporting of data from multiple locations and in some cases multiple companies to create comprehensive and easy to read and navigate reporting that can be viewed from a computer, smart phone or tablet. Some of the other problems we are solving revolve around creating reporting that can take away the need for our team to manually do certain tasks and create better efficiencies.
Vinyl gives us the flexibility to connect disparate data sources across our enterprise. We can spin up applications in hours, and have them in the hands of our users in days. Previously it would take weeks, months or even years to deploy applications, but not anymore.
Some of our business processes complicate our deployment speed. We need to change our testing and infrastructure process so we can move as fast as our application development team can now move.
We are tapping into legacy applications, to allow our users to interact with the data in a more meaningful way. The way we built our legacy applications worked 10 years ago, but the business has changed. Vinyl allows us to change, while still retaining our historical data. It has completely revolutionized our business.
The usability is exceptional. The support you receive from Zudy is top notch. They are easy to do business with and honest, ethical people. Ultimately it is the problems that Zudy resolves for my organization that I like best!!
There is nothing about Zudy that I dislike. Even the price was reasonable and something to feel good about.
Our databases are now able to talk to each other. We are able to get at data that was impossible for us to see. We are able to automate static reports that were old the day we received them and required much labor to create and replace them with a live Zudy report that is not old and once built requires no more man power to create. We are making smarter, more informed decisions because of Zudy.
The ease of which you can connect to data sources Quickness of building a finished product Applicability to almost any business case
Unable to combine multiple datasources in one object Steeper learning curve
Taking processes handled with Excel spreadsheets and turning them into smarter, more controlled processes Security and data restrictions is incredibly easy to enforce Easily upgrades existing tech to something much more powerful
After completing the training courses, Creating applications in Vinyl is straightforward. With a User-Friendly Interface and a wide range of Connectivity options, I think, Vinyl is one of the best-in-class solutions to many problems.
Lack of Documentation and How-To videos around some advanced features since we rely solely on the documentation provided. Adding more forums and webinars would help to spread its capabilities.
Vinyl helped to migrate a lot of excel-based data entry/maintenance into a more robust and improved application catering to specific needs and businesses. It helped avoid many human errors and improved the data quality.
To say the team at VINYL is patient and knowledgeable is an understatement. We haven't fully launched the new system VINYL has been building for our company. However, the demos have been impressive, and I look forward to our continued relationship with VINYL.
The challenge faced during this initial experience is related to understanding what we do as a business. We work in a specific niche of the financial industry, so it is hard to fully understand it within a short period. VINYL did their best to make suggestions from their point of view, which added value in most instances.
We are behind the times with our systems. Much of the work we perform is done manually, which is inefficient. VINYL will increase the amount of automation we have in operations and allow us to repurpose our talent to tasks that will drive our company forward.
The most valuable part of Vinyl for us is the ability to combine multiple systems, and the customizability it provides.
There isn't anything I can think of besides me being impatient and really wanting to use the new apps
Vinyl has provided us with a single reporting system that streamlined us making important decisions
Jay Hornback was a great rep. and very polite and knowledgable.
Nothing at the moment, love what I've seen.
Mostly problems involving manufacturing travelers. Have an IIS app is way better than a local application.
The tools and knowledge base available for learning Vinyl is quite extensive. Tutorials are well thought out and run you through real world application development.
Vinyl is a powerful platform, but I would recommend that you have some background in application development. Some tutorials on basic dev would be beneficial.
We are using Vinyl to develop a suite of standardized data collection and reporting tools across our company. Productivity, as well as data accuracy, has improved by having standardized interfaces over a common database.
The flexibility is very appealing. Having the ability to change UI with just a couple of keystrokes is fantastic. Also, having the ability to add/delete, and rearrange the data display quickly is a real game-changer for us.
I don't have enough time to increase my understanding of what the total potential is for this platform
Using Vinyl as a portal for operational data entry/collection. We do not currently have an MES in place. We feel that this has the potential to bridge that gap.
What makes Vinyl unique is that while it is quite simple to use, only requiring a basic understanding of HTML and CSS to get started, it is very powerful. It allows almost complete customization of the user-facing content while seamlessly maintaining the back-end. This tool is fantastic for small teams, enabling team members to, in effect, become full-stack developers without diminishing the end product.
The main downside to Vinyl is the steep learning curve for some of the more advanced features. While many of the basics are covered in the built-in LMS and are well documented in the wiki, some of the more advanced features are lacking in proper documentation. That said, their support team is very responsive and can always find a fix, even if it means pushing out a hotfix for only one person.
My business is a growing Software as a Service company, developing software for first responders; our current focus is on emergency medical services, but we are expanding to the fire service in the future. Vinyl is allowing us to rapidly build out an application and get it into the hands of the people that need it, even with our lack of authentic coding experience. While our team has plenty of HTML and CSS knowledge, we lack in the languages that would be needed to build a standalone solution without a low-code solution like Vinyl.
Vinyl helps quickly design, build application with multiple datasource. Application work bench to build and maintain the application Quickly design, build application with multiple data source, Development of UI like Page Layout, Functionality and Menu Navigation. Defining the business rules and stage data to be displayed in UI. Aggregated objects for chart panels. Advance setting values for cmplex scenarios. Data modelling is very simpler. Docker deployment Code generatated in .net core MVC
More than dislikes, these are my suggestions. Not so excellent Front end multi-experience support. Need to support AR and VR. Hyper automatation support is not there. Advanced UI features like Maps support. Mobile Application development can be improvised. Testing automation and test case management can be integrated. Application development management like Microsoft Project, Agile or Jira can be supported ads par tof application workbench.
I was able to build an internal employee and HR management system very quickly. Benefits. Vinyl helps quickly design, build application with multiple datasource. Application work bench to build and maintain the application Able to build applications very quickly. Build UI layer, Business logic layer and Data modelling can be built in no time with Vinyl Ease of use
As someone with previous SQL experience but no direct programming experience, Vinyl took some time to get used to but now feels like second nature. The beginner training provided by Zudy gave us a solid conceptual foundation of how Vinyl works and got us kickstarted with our project early. The learning curve was pretty linear, so even a basic working knowledge of Vinyl enabled us to start meaningful development work on our project. Essentially every time we've asked ourselves "I wonder if Vinyl can do X?", we've discovered the answer is "Yes!". Connecting to external data sources via API has allowed us to integrate and automate many of our business processes that were previously manual. We have a lot of control over our UI, user base/security, and the ability to build complex reports for our clients - all of which is unavailable with our preexisting software solution. Far and away my favorite part of working with Zudy is their outstanding support. Our consultants at Zudy are unfailingly knowledgeable and helpful, and have immensely contributed to the success of our project. I love the fact that Vinyl is adding new features and capabilities all the time, so we will be able to continuously improve our application and benefit our clients by taking advantage of those features.
The written documentation/knowledge base for Vinyl exists but it a little difficult to sift through. Since our Zudy counterparts are so responsive, this tends to not be a direct issue because we always get the answer or solution we are looking for from them, but they could spare their people some time by having documentation easier to search through.
Vinyl has made it much more efficient for us to perform extract/transform/load processes on external data. Setting up parsing rules for a new data source is much faster than our previous software solution. We are always expanding the data we synthesize for our clients, so this provides a continuous benefit. In addition, our Vinyl app will enable our organization to provide new product offerings to our clients because we can continuously develop new functionality within our apps and scale up our user base very easily.
It's hard to choose as there are so many things I like. Chief amongst them though is the pace with which we can move from concept to working application, then iterate, iterate, iterate with our clients....whether we are creating a standalone application, or plugging in to an existing workflow that cuts across multiple systems, VINYL has our back. It's not quite Childs play but with Zudy VINYL it's heading in that direction. After 30 years of working in IT I can think of 100s of projects that would have delivered better outcomes if I'd had VINYL
I'm really looking forward to my mobile apps being able to work in offline mode.
Digital transformation - using VINYL as part of a flexible transition plan, but also building custom applications that deliver efficiency where legacy ERP or inflexible SaaS tools don't have the features needed to deliver organisational efficiency. In terms of benefits, we build applications at pace and can react in realtime to our clients ideas / needs. Our clients end to end processes are now joined up (no more playing pass the spreadsheet), and they have access to actionable management information in-process, directly in VINYL
Vinyl is unbelievably quick to develop portals and (mobile) applications. It lends itself well to an agile approach and is in a class of its own. Its no-code/low-code approach lends well to progressive iterations with speed. There are a lot of products of this genre available, but few are as Enterprise-ready as Vinyl.
The configuration UI requires some experience to become proficient. This is one area that could be simplified and improved.
B2B business portals also rendered as mobile tools. The key benefit is being able to realise an integrated portal serving several audiences within a very short timerame.
