Printful had the potential to become the forerunner in the POD industry but has lost focus of who drives sales to their door.
Their printers are not held accountable for quality or timelines. We have 2 orders that ran past the deadline and both customers are filing a chargeback as they do not want to wait past the promised dates. This will cost me the price I pay to gain these customers, the negative review they leave and the fees Etsy will charge. Their customer service describes this as an 'inconvenience'. When the money comes out of my pocket and not Printful's and the negative reviews are seen on my store and not Printful's, this seems like they care only about padding their pockets and not customer service. The products were purchased on Aug. 29th. This should have been a few days to print a hat! Finally after chasing their horrific customer service when Etsy flagged the order as 'past due to ship', they think maybe they can finish producing it by Sept. 20th but offer no guarantees. Throw in an additional 7-10 days for USPS, that brings delivery to the customer around the 30th of Sept....at least. This is not only laughable but pathetic. This is a design on a hat that is already in USA not some complex production. I don't understand how this ridiculous business model is sustainable but know I will not put my business and my customers at risk. I have chosen to transition all Printful products from all of our sales channels and move our business to Printify. They have been very stable. Just an idea Printful....if you can't deliver products in some sort of reasonable time frame, give paying customers the option to purchase elsewhere by indicating proper fulfilment times right on the product pages. I now know you don't care about the effort us sellers put into making your business thrive or even possible. In return, I don't care if I sell your products ever again. There are so many up and coming POD companies that still believe customer service is important.
Printful is helping us to decide to switch to another print on demand company. This is stopping the waste of time, resources and money for our company that we are seeing as a result of using Printful's services .
Printful is a Print-on-Demand company that is the leader in the business with millions of sales worldwide. It is both online and an App where you can create print-on-demand (POD) products using either your original art or their art and text to create designs to place on their enormous amount of products. They have a design editor, and the ability to push your products to places like Amazon, eBay, Etsy, and so many more. You can in most cases also write all the text -- title, description, keywords, etc, and use their mockups, offer sales, create your own pricing for products and it goes on and on. What I like most is it is free and helps me make money across the globe.
Though they are the leader -- even if Amazon Merch n Demand is coming up alongside them, their prices are really the highest in the industry for us to purchase wholesale, have printed, and shipped. That means I have to charge more when I use them for a product but their print and product quality saves the day. It is just too pricey for most of us.
Aside from being the best place to upload my designs and do all I have to do to create a product and push it to my online store(s), you have to have product photos in specific sizes, resolutions, and more for every platform you sell on and that is always different. Printful supplies you with all of the mockups you specifically chose. It is absolutely a lifesaver because I do not have the physical products, they do.
As a nonprofit festival, we are always looking to expand our merchandise offerings where we can hopefully increase income to offset many of the costs we endure during our festival. Printful has a good amount of products available and their online interface makes it relatively easy to set up products and variants. Most everything is set as a "what you see is what you get" style and I appreciate that.
I had a few sync issues with my online store when I first got set up. There are also times where I felt products I set up did not get communicated or linked properly. Out of stocks have occurred and I wish the communication of these events was clearer. I also wish some of the product costs were not as high as they are. The cost of the products they are listing are more expensive than someone who could print locally.
In the world of COVID-19, we can have an online merchandise store and not worry about the overhead cost of pre-printing merchandise. Having the items on a print-to-order basis is so very helpful. It truly minimizes the risk to our organization. I just wish that we as a nonprofit could make a better income without us pricing the items too high for our patrons.
First of all, quality of the products and printing is really great, this is the most important thing when you are selling something and sometimes people assume every company is gonna be like that, but... you'd be surprised to see that this is not the case for most of them, so I have to give Printful a 10/10 in this compared to the POD industry. Another thing that I like is that they are always working to add new products and that’s something I truly appreciate, a business listening to their customers is a business that is going in the right direction. The customer service is also great, they had help me with any problem, issue or question that I've had and I can guarantee you I'm someone who is always looking for the best results. Another amazing thing about them is that you can be based in the most remote place and still you are gonna be able to sell your products anywhere in the world, from the US to Europe, Australia, Asia, etc without having a huge increase in the cost, I'm already used to it but having a global partner like this is something you are looking for in any business. There is no possible comparison between Printful and other POD companies at this moment if you are looking to start a serious business.
I don’t really dislike a lot of things about them, but I will try to review the main topics that can be a problem for other people. When you go with a POD company there is a thing you have to know: pricing is gonna be higher than buying in bulk, yes, but that’s part of it, you are sacrificing some margin for not having to risk your money on something that you don’t know if it’s gonna work. In that price is also included everything that you would have to pay for if you choose to do it on your own. I've also seen some people complaining about shipping times, you have to understand that we are on a pandemic, almost every business except Amazon is having delays and most of you customers will understand if you inform them. Before Covid-19 shipping times for national deliveries were less than a week and a week or so for international deliveries.
As I told before, you can ship worldwide without having to pay a huge amount for it. They have fulfillment centers all around the globe, so that solves any logistic problem. I’m also able to make a new design and upload it immediately to my store without having to wait weeks until it’s produced and if something doesn’t work I'm not expending hundreds before testing it.
We've used Printful for about 4 months now and they have been fantastic. The 2 things I love are the value they offer and the customer service. We sell posters of my grandmother's photographic artwork (Eve Arnold). The paper quality is as good as many photographers use for high-quality photographic prints but at a fraction of the cost of anywhere else I've found. This means we are able to offer affordable and high-quality posters that really show the photos at their best. In terms of customer service, Printful always reply quickly, are very knowledgeable and helpful and solve any issues fast. The customer back end portal is also very easy to use. You can get started selling products quickly and easily and managing things once you're up and running is simple too.
There are very few downsides to Printful that I've found. The only one I can think of is that they don't have a fulfillment centre yet in the UK for sending out products so our UK customers receive their orders from Spain. However, this has not proven to be a problem. Our orders are small enough, so our customers don't have to worry about customs duties and the delivery time is still very good - usually about 10 days. We have had no complaints about this, only satisfied customers who love the quality of the posters.
The biggest problem that Printful solves is how to give Eve's worldwide audience access to high-quality posters of Eve's images. Printful have centers around the world and we can therefore easily offer posters to people no matter where they are in the world. They take care of all the printing and shipping, and because all the products are print on demand, you don't need to invest a lot upfront.
Printful is very easy to use even if you are new to the print-on-demand business. I was able to set up - connect my store and sync my products in a matter of an hour.
The prices of some products are comparably high, but considering the quality, I think its ok
I am integrating print-on-demand products into my store to sell and Printful gave me a lot more than that. Printful gave me everything I need to lunch my print-on-demand business to the world.
Printful offers a remarkably user-friendly and intuitive interface. The range of products available for selection is abundant, and their quality is exceptional. I particularly enjoy the flexibility of choosing the brand I wish to sell. Additionally, I value the convenience of utilizing other platforms for designing or leveraging Printful's existing template designs. However, my absolute favorite aspect is the branding component, which allows for the inclusion of personalized inserts bearing my own brand, adding a wonderful finishing touch.
While there are a couple of minor areas for improvement, they are by no means dealbreakers. One suggestion I have is enhancing the "saved template" feature to retain the settings applied during the design process. It can be a tad frustrating having to repeatedly modify identical wording.
Printful effectively addresses the typical expenses and logistical challenges that arise when launching a business and acquiring the necessary materials. By leveraging Printful, small and/or emerging business owners can save valuable time while sustainably bringing their creative ideas to fruition. As we are aware, a significant number of small businesses struggle due to the absence of a solid plan, an effective marketing strategy, and limited financial resources. However, Printful significantly enhances the chances of success by making it more achievable for these businesses to thrive.
Printful is easy to use and integrates with bigger platforms. Here are the best traits: - I love that the prices are transparent and easy to see, there is a large variety of products. - The process of creating your product is simple. Adding your art to the template and sizing it to get it right takes a few minutes but then you are set and can use it over and over again. - You can add multiple stores from each platform in one shop (for example I sell abstract art and have another shop that says graphic posters and totes) and I can manage those and my shopify store as well. - Printful integrates with a lot of different platforms, Squarespace, wix, etsy, weebly, etc... - Helpful customer service - Updates when shipping delays occur so you can inform your customers.
The one thing I don't like is once it integrates with Etsy you can accidentally delete your listings. I thought I was cleaning my listings out of Printful to start over fresh and I deleted over 50 Etsy listings with a lot of history. This was completely my fault but I wish there was a more of a warning.
The problem solved was wasted time. I can get everything I need from one place and the perks are great. You can customize everything so it doesn't feel like it's shipping from a random warehouse.
