I liked all of the trainers' willingness to answer questions.
I found it unnecessary to talk about what the trainers were going to talk about... this could have saved 10-15mins per session which would have avoided the need to rush through the content right at the end. The software overall seems like a good tool, but there do seem to be a few annoying bugs.
I won't know this until I start utilising the software fully.
I am most appreciative of the staff that are helping to train us. It's convenient that we can use the Word plugin with their software.
We don't have everything we need in the program yet as far as our dropdown menu's go.
The staff is very helpful when they know there is a problem. They have gone out of their way to help us get the software set up to work well for our business.
I like that it is easy to use and very self explanatory, making all of the jobs you do easier and simple. This software is very useful and keeps everything in one place so it is easy to find and pull back up into your memory
Clearly the cost is a huge downfall, but that is with anything. Cost has to be considered when defining what you are using it for vs what it is actually worth in order to do day to day business.
designing and engineering across our inventory. It was great to have everything in one place but with that being said, we worried about confidentiality and safety concerns regarding our original designs.
For a new organization setting up life cycle management, the preconfigured workspaces get you going really fast. The app store gives you great ideas on how to use the product and extend it within your organization. The staff on site are happy to help, and can assist with issues you run into.
It can be difficult to adapt the environments to pre-existing workflows. Scripts are not always user friendly to manage. Once you add a workspace, its difficult to remove it cleanly, as it leaves links and data behind that make maintance painful. The interface can be slow to use though, and page load times are a common complaint.
Currently used for life cycle management both for of individual parts and produc families, part number creation, change order control, change requestes, problem reports and serial number tracking.
The workflow processes - especially visibility of what state a current project is in. Also the assigning of tasks with that flow and project completion.
The lack of project timeline management - we would like to see greater control of timelines and project completions based on the completed tasks and uncompleted tasks.
Solving the NPI process and shortening the length of time it takes to bring a product from idea to finished goods.
Once you get used to it, it is fairly easy to navigate. It allows the company to have all product information in one location instead of scattered through our shared drive.
When the sales pitch is that you can do everything yourself - you don't need to be in IT or need IT's help. Its not true. We needed help, lots of it, which ends up costing a lot of money. Might have well have invested the money up front to have it set up the way you wanted. However, that is not what was presented to us.
The main benefit we have found is being able to look up current product specifications and being able to look through the history of the item.
The User Interface is nice and it looks like there are a lot of functionalities.
However, what they show in their training program only works smoothly on the program. Once one starts using the software, many of the features of the software are half-baked. Their customer representatives are also not very knowledgeable about the issues they try to solve, and it takes a few days until they reply.
PLM/PDM. I wanted my company to have file version control for 3D CAD.
